Cleveland's Evan Carroll - FFA Spotlight - Presented by Oklahoma AgCredit
Cleveland High School senior and varsity basketball player Evan Carroll is the FFA Spotlight Athlete of the Month. After moving to Cleveland High School his freshman year, Carroll decided to join the FFA chapter at school. Now a four-year member of FFA and a four-year basketball player, Carroll is excited to wrap up a great high school career.
“I play basketball and golf for Cleveland High School. I am also on the Safe and Healthy Schools committee,” said Carroll.
Known as a hard worker in athletics and the classroom, Carroll has excelled at showing his swine during FFA events.
“My favorite part of being in the FFA is exhibiting the swine that I raise,” said Carroll. “The activities that I’m involved in within the FFA are swine production and exhibiting, prepared public speaking as well as being on the milk and dairy products team. I’m also the Cleveland chapter vice president.”
It was a family member that first encouraged him to join FFA.
“My brother was in the FFA and he really enjoyed it. He told me that I wouldn’t regret joining and he was right,” said Carroll.
During his four years as a representative for Cleveland FFA, Carroll has made many great memories to add to four years as a student-athlete for the Tigers.
“My favorite memory as a member within the FFA would have to be the countless hours spent in the truck with my Ag teacher Mr. Fuss, driving all over the state to look at pigs,” said Carroll.
Carroll is weighing his options on his next venture. He is kicking around the idea of going to college and continuing to breed his swine. The senior offers this advice to other students considering FFA in high school.
“My advice would be, be prepared to get in the pickup and go, it’s a wild ride,” said Carroll.
